There are a couple of openings on the softball staff of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

Guthrie and Foster join the staff of first-year head coach Jimmy Kolaitis, a former assistant at South Alabama, who spent the last five seasons as an assistant at Oregon.

The two, who were part of Gerry Glasco's first coaching staff at Louisiana, helped guide the Cajuns to a 41-16 record, and their 19th-consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance.

Guthrie, who served as a scout for the Miami Marlins from 2006-2007, worked as an assistant for Penn St. (2014-2016) and Bucknell (2017), prior to his one season at UL.

Foster, a 2005 NFCA All-American as a pitcher at Northwestern, was as assistant coach at her alma mater (2011-2015), before serving as the head coach at Bucknell (2016-17) where she guided the Bison to a 50-43 record, prior to her stint at Louisiana.

The duo will be missed at UL, but the move makes sense, as Guthrie is close friends with Kolaitis, and more importantly, both have fulltime assistant jobs.

As for the Cajuns, Glasco should have no shortage of qualified candidates to choose from.
