After a 1-3 week last week, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns get back into action Wednesday night when they host Nicholls State (1-6) at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park.

First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 pm and can be heard on ESPN 1420, espn1420.com and the ESPN1420 mobile app.

The Cajuns dropped two of three over the weekend to Wright State, dropping the first game and winning the second before falling 4-3 in a controversy marred game on Sunday.

Colten Schmidt (0-0, 3.00), who did not figure into the decision in his first start at Southeastern Louisiana, will be the starting pitcher for the Cajuns.  Nicholls will counter with right hander Jake Bedevian (0-1, 4.50).  It will be Bedevian's first start of the season.

The Cajuns' offense, which had sputtered over the first five games, showed signs of life in the final two games against Wright State, as Louisiana tallied 17 hits over the final two contests.  Cajuns' head coach Tony Robichaux says he likes the way the percentage of quality at bats is rising.

Robichaux will not coach the team in tonight's game after receiving a two game NCAA mandated suspension for excessive arguing after his ejection in Sunday's game.

Following tonight's contest, the Cajuns will travel to Houston for the Shriner's Classic where they will meet Mississippi State, Vanderbilt and Kentucky.
