The number one seeded Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns made it 25 wins in a row with their first match-up in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament as they hung on late for a 4-3 victory over the Texas State Bobcats.

Summer Ellyson got the start for Louisiana opposed by Dalilah Barrera.

The Bobcats offense got to Ellyson first via an error by second baseman Cassidy Chaumont. In the bottom of the first inning, the Cajuns came right back as they tied the game when they loaded the bases and Kara Gremillion had a heck of an at-bat by fouling off numerous pitched until she worked a walk. The game was tied at one.

The game would remain tied until the fourth inning where both teams put up runs. It began in the top half of the inning when the Bobcats put together back to back hits and combined that with a wild pitch to plate a run and take the lead 2-1.

However, Louisiana would storm back in the bottom half of the inning as Rainia O'Neal doubled, Kara Gremillion laid down a bunt single and at that point, Texas State brought in Meagan King to pitch. On her very first pitch she uncorked a wild pitch that would score O'Neal to tie the game. From there it was two big RBI hits via Lexie Comeaux and Kourtney Gremillion to give the Cajuns a 4-2 lead.

Louisiana would hold that lead until the top of the seventh but Texas State wouldn't go quietly as they plated a run and had the tying run on first with one out and the top of the lineup up to bat. Summer bared down and got through the top two hitters to secure the 4-3 victory for UL.

The Cajuns looked a bit rusty on this day as they collected just five hits and committed two errors, that is something that certainly needs to be cleaned up moving forward.

Summer Ellyson went the distance and allowed just one earned run, walked only one, and struck out six.

Hitting wise it was the two big hits by Lexie Comeaux and Kourtney Gremillion that led to the Cajuns putting up three runs in the fourth inning.

Up next for Louisiana they'll take on the six seeded Coastal Carolina Chanticleers. That game is scheduled for Friday morning with a start time at 11 a.m. but due to the inclement weather that's expected to be in the area Thursday night that may be pushed back. Please make sure you've downloaded the ESPN 1420 mobile app to stay up-to-date with when the game will begin on Friday.
