UL Softball’s Lamson Park Picked As One Of 7 Must-Visit Stadiums
Louisiana Ragn' Cajun fans know how special their home stadium is, and apparently, the rest of the softball world holds it in high esteem as well.
NCAA.com has listed Lamson Park as one of the "7 stadiums you need to visit" in the country.
Joe Boozell says of Lamson Park;
A nice touch at Lamson Park: in 2006, the left and right field foul lines were adorned by brick wall.
The Ragin’ Cajuns’ stadium has come a long way. Thirty years ago, the land on which Lamson Park was built was a pasture filled with barns and cattle. Now, it’s one of the most iconic venues in college softball, holding almost 3,000 people. Lamson Park has a 50-seat stadium club and underwent a $2.1 million renovation between 2009-11. It's a great place to take in a game.
Originally known as Lady Cajun Park, the facility changed it’s name to Ragin’ Cajuns Softball Park in 2002, and then to Alfred and Helen Lamson Park in 2006.
Lamson Park did indeed go through a $2.1 million renovation from 2009-11.
Host to 11 NCAA Regionals, along with one NCAA Super Regional throughout it’s history, the Cajuns have compiled an astounding all-time record of 766-110 at Lamson Park.
Earlier this year, In a national poll conducted by flosoftball.com, Lamson Park was voted the top softball venue in the country.
Louisiana returns to Lamson Park this weekend, playing host to Georgia St. in a three-game Sun Belt Conference series.
