Louisiana Ragin' Cajun head softball coach Gerry Glasco has finalized his first coaching staff with the team.

Glasco, who was named head coach at Louisiana on November 20, added Ellen Renfroe Reed and Joe Guthrie as assistant coaches on Monday, while tabbing Jon Reed as director of operations and Courtnay Foster as a volunteer assistant.

Renfroe Reed and Foster have head coaching experience, while Guthrie was an appointed head coach.

Renfroe Reed, who will serve as the Louisiana pitching coach, was most recently the head coach at Bethel (Tennessee) College, after serving as an assistant at Memphis for three seasons.

A two-time NFCA All-American (2011 & 2012) during her college playing career at Tennessee, Renfroe Reed compiled a career record of 102-25, to go along with a 1.65 ERA.

Guthrie, who served as Glasco's assistant with the Scrap Yard Dawgs of the National Pro Fastpitch League in 2017, was appointed head coach at Spring Hill College in July, after serving as an assistant coach at Penn State from 2014-16,  and at Bucknell last season.

A former professional baseball scout with the Miami Marlins, Guthrie also spent six seasons as the head softball coach and assistant athletic director at Marion (Ala.) Military Institute.

Foster was an assistant coach at Northwestern from 2011-2015, before serving as the head coach at Bucknell over the past two seasons, guiding them to a 50-43 record.

As a player, Foster was a three-time All-Big Ten selection at Northwestern, accumulating 80 career wins and 1,014 strikeouts.

Reed, who was serving as an assistant coach with his wife Ellen at Bethel College, is entering his first season of collegiate softball.

A former collegiate baseball player at Tennessee and Memphis, Reed  was drafted in the 21st round of the 2009 MLB draft by the Cincinnati Reds.

The Cajuns open their 2018 softball season on February 8, when they take on Samford in the first day of play in the Mardi Gras Classic.
