Several Louisiana Ragin’ Cajun Alums Survive NFL Cut Day, Several Don’t
A few former Louisiana Ragin' Cajun football players received good news today, while others got word they wouldn't be on their team's final 53 man roster.
Today marked the deadline for NFL teams to trim their roster down to 53 active players.
Players who are on the team's active roster to begin the season get their season salary guaranteed.
Those who don't hope to catch on with a practice squad, or another team's roster.
A few Ragin' Cajun alums were not in danger of being cut.
Running back Elijah McGuire is on the New York Jets final 53 man roster, while the Detroit Lions safety rookie 3rd round pick Tracy Walker is on the final 53 as well.
Former UL defensive tackle Justin Hamilton has made the Kansas City Chiefs final 53 man roster, but his teammate in Kansas City and former teammate at Louisiana did not as linebacker Otha Peters didn't survive the round of cuts in KC.
Cornerback Simeon Thomas (pictured) was a 6th round pick by the Cleveland Browns last April, but did not make the final roster.
Ringo, Peters and Thomas are eligible to be signed by NFL practice squads.
Teams begin to sign eligible players to their practice squad tomorrow, beginning at noon.
