Former LSU Tigers starting quarterback Brandon Harris will transfer for his senior season.

Harris, who made the announcement on his twitter page, has been given a full release of his scholarship with the Tigers.

He is on course to graduate in May, meaning he is eligible to transfer to an FBS program for his senior year and won't be required to sit out a season.

"After consulting with Coach O (Ed Orgeron) and my family, I've decide(d) the best decision for me and my future is to transfer away from LSU. Coach O has given me a FULL release.  I look forward to graduating and finding the best place to further my education and playing career next season," wrote Harris.

It's a similar path to the previous LSU quarterback he replaced as a starter.

Anthony Jennings transferred to Louisiana for his senior season after Harris started all of 2015, replacing Jennings who had started the previous season.

Harris started in 2015 and the first two games of 2016 before being replaced by Danny Etling.

"To my teammates (who) I shared a bond with (its) been fun and special (and) I look forward to cheering you guys on next season. Lastly, (I'd) like to thank anyone who has impacted me over the last three year. I'm forever grateful and can't thank you enough," added Harris.
