As reported on a tweet by Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports earlier, Texas Tech secondary coach Karl Scott has been named Billy Napier's choice to be the Defensive Coordinator of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns football program.

And, it makes sense

Scott has recruiting experience in the Bayou State, having served for three seasons at Southeastern Louisiana and a year at Louisiana Tech.

He's served as the defensive backs coach at Texas Tech the last two seasons.

Scott served for one season as the Defensive Coordinator at SLU, and the Lions led the Southland Conference in total defense and ranked seventh in the FCS in that category.  The Lions won back to back Southland titles in 2013 and 2014.

He moved to Louisiana Tech for the 2015 season, where he coached safeties.  Louisiana Tech forced 22 turnovers that season and finished eighth nationally in turnovers for touchdowns.  That Tech team played in the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, defeating Arkansas State 47-28.

Scott is a 2007 graduate of McMurry College in Abilene, TX.
