The 11th-ranked LSU Tigers will be without one of their top defensive players when they take on the 8th-ranked UCF Knights in the Fiesta Bowl on New Year's Day.

A redshirt sophomore, Williams will not play in the Fiesta Bowl, as he begins preparing for the NFL Draft.

The 6-foot-2, 175-pound Williams, who played his high school football at Calvary Baptist, was a first team All-SEC selection last season, becoming the first LSU freshman to be honored on the AP All-SEC team since 2011, and only the second since 1986.

A native of Shreveport, Williams, tallied 38 tackles and 6 interceptions in 2017.

A semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award for the best defensive back in the country this season, Williams has totaled 33 tackles and two interceptions.

Although only a sophomore, Williams redshirted a season coming out of high school, which made him eligible to declare for the 2019 NFL Draft
