The LSU Tigers will likely have to play without two linebackers when they take on the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the Citrus Bowl on New Year's Day.

NOLA.com is reporting that LSU will be without the services of Donnie Alexander and Corey Thompson, due to injuries.

Alexander, who recently had surgery on his right shoulder, appeared in 12 games this season, including two starts, compiling 51 tackles and an interception.

A senior outside linebacker from New Orleans, Alexander will finish his college career with 109 tackles, including one sack and an interception.

Thompson, a sixth-year senior from Missouri City, Texas, appeared in all 2 games this season for the Tigers, including 8 starts, accumulating 43 tackles and six sacks.

An outside linebacker, Thompson has tallied 109 tackles and six sacks over his career at LSU.

The Tigers may also be without a third outside linebacker in the match-up against Notre Dame, as preseason All-American Arden Key, who missed the final two regular season games with a leg injury, had surgery on a pinky finger after the season.
