Apparently, the vacant position of offensive line coach on the LSU football staff won't be open very long.

According to, the Tigers are expected to hire Los Angeles Chargers offensive line coach James Cregg to the same position.

The 44-year old Cregg will replace former offensive line coach Jeff Grimes, who is leaving LSU to become the new offensive coordinator at BYU.

A native of Syracuse, New York, Cregg played college football at Colorado,  before getting into coaching.

During his coaching career, Cregg has served of the staffs of Colgate (2000-2003), Idaho (2004-2006), Tennessee (2009), and USC (2010-2013) during his college stints.

During his time with Tennessee and USC, Cregg served on the same staff with current LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.

Cregg has also served on the NFL staffs of the Chargers and Denver Broncos, where he spent the previous three seasons, including the 2015 Super Bowl team.
