LSU Rolls By Rice 42-10
LSU honored 18 seniors Saturday night at Tiger Stadium, sending them off in their final home game with a thorough 42-10 victory over the Rice Owls.
Senior running back Nick Brosette rushed for 2 touchdowns, while senior tight end Foster Moreau reeled in 5 catches for 73 yards and a score.
"Foster Moreau had his best game," said Tigers head coach Ed Orgeron following the win. "Obviously, it was a lesser opponent, but we wanted to throw the football. I wanted to get the rhythm back. I thought we did."
It was the best passing game of the season for LSU, as quarterback Joe Burrow threw for a career-high 307 yards and 2 touchdowns on 20-28 passing. Backup QB Myles Brennan entered the contest in the 4th quarter, tossing 4 completions for 65 yards.
Brennan, a sophomore, is still eligible to take a redshirt this season under the new NCAA rules and preserve a year of eligibility.
Rice (1-11) was outgained by LSU 552-198.
The Tigers improve to 9-2 with the win, setting up a big season finale next week on the road at Texas A&M (7-4).
"This is where we want to be," said Orgeron of what lies ahead next week against the Aggies. "We want to be a 10-win team. This is going to be a huge game for our football team."
Kickoff next Saturday in College Station, Texas is set for 6:30.
