LSU Makes Big Jump In AP Football Poll

The LSU Tigers are back in the top five again of the latest Associated Press college football poll, which was released on Sunday.

LSU, who ran their record to 6-1 on Saturday, with a big 36-16 SEC win over Georgia, is ranked 5th in this week's poll, a jump of 8 spots from last week.

The Tigers were previously in the top five, prior to a 27-19 loss to Florida on October 6.

LSU, who is now 3-1 in SEC play, returns to the gridiron this Saturday night, when they play host to the 22nd-ranked Mississippi St. Bulldogs.

Alabama remains the top team in the land, receiving 60 of a possible 61 first-place votes, while Ohio St., who received the only other first-place vote, moves up to number two.

Clemson is up one spot, to number three, while Notre Dame, who snuck past Pittsburgh, 19-14, also moved up one spot, to number four.

The Tigers, who improved to 4-0 at Tiger Stadium with the win over Georgia, round out the top five.

Michigan is #6, followed by Texas, Georgia, Oklahoma, and UCF, in spots 7-10, respectively.

11-15 includes Florida, Oregon, West Virginia, Kentucky, and Washington, while NC St., Texas A&M, Penn St., Iowa, and Cincinnati are ranked 16-20, respectively.

Finally, in spots 21-25, South Florida, Miss. St., Wisconsin, Michigan St., and Washington St. round out the poll.
