No. 7 LSU stormed back from a seven-run deficit with a six runs in the eighth inning, but the late rally was not enough as Princeton (1-2) held on, 8-7, in Game 3 Sunday at Alex Box Stadium.

LSU (11-1) loaded the bases with one out in the ninth, but Princeton left-hander David Palms retired the next two batters to earn a save and preserve his squad's first victory of the season.

Princeton southpaw Michael Fagan (1-0) was credited with the victory as he allowed five earned runs on one hit and five walks in 3.1 innings. LSU right-hander Ben Alsup (2-1) was charged with the loss as the senior surrendered three earned runs on two hits and four walks in 4.2 innings.
