LSU Coach Ed Orgeron Earns Home Depot Coach Of The Year, He’s Also A Finalist For Several Coach of the Year Awards
LSU head coach Ed Orgeron has been named the Home Depot Coach of the Year.
Orgeron, 58, a native of LaRose, Louisiana, has led the #1 ranked Tigers to a 13-0 record, an SEC Championship, and the top spot in the College Football Playoffs.
The Home Depot Coach of the Year is voted on annually by ESPN and ABC football analysts for the best college football coach in FBS.
Orgeron is the second LSU coach to earn the honor, as Les Miles won it back in 2011.
In addition to the Home Depot Coach of the Year honor, Orgeron also was named the SEC Coach of the Year Monday and is a finalist for a number of prestigious coaching awards.
Orgeron is currently a finalist for other awards including:
- George Munger Collegiate Coach of the Year Award
- Dodd Trophy
- Eddie Robinson Coach of the Year Award, named after the late legendary Grambling coach Eddie Robinson.
