JaMarcus Russell

Quarterback JaMarcus Russell, the top pick in the 2007 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders, out of LSU, is attempting an NFL comeback, and he's off to a good start.

Russell, who hasn't played since the end of the 2009 season, was reported to have weighed as much as 315 pounds at one point. His goal is to get down to 270 pounds.

Well, he's a little more than halfway there, after shedding 27 pounds in the last two months, while training in San Diego.

The 27-year old Russell, who won the Manning Award in 2006 at LSU, threw for 4,083 yards, along with 18 touchdowns, and 23 interceptions during his three years with the Raiders.

Russell's best season was 2008, when he started 15 games, and threw for 2,423 yards, with 13 touchdowns, and only eight interceptions.
