Louisiana Native and Vanderbilt Transfer Jordan Wright Commits to LSU Basketball

The LSU Tigers Men's Basketball team had a rough 2022-23 season so Coach Matt McMahon is looking to upgrade his roster significantly.

The news that hit yesterday should help.

Vanderbilt transfer Jordan Wright has announced he will be transferring to Baton Rouge to play his final year of eligibility with the Tigers.

This is a homecoming for Wright as he played high school basketball at Dunham in Baton Rouge. He was a two-time state champion and four-year starter for the team.

The 6-foot-6 wing player played in 34 games for the Commodores this past season, averaging 10.6 points per game (third on the team) while grabbing 5.1 rebounds a contest and totaling 71 assists (both second on the team).

Wright was also the SEC Scholar-Athlete of the Year in 2022.

For his college career, Wright has scored over 1,000 points. He started 73 games, averaging 9.5 points per game, shooting 42% from the field and 31% from three.

As mentioned earlier, it was a rough year for LSU this past season. The Tigers went 14-19 overall and 2-16 in SEC play, losing 14 games in a row at one point.

While several players will likely be departing the program through the transfer portal, the addition of Jordan Wright is the first transfer commitment this offseason.
