Houston Astros Outlook for this Weekend

The Houston Astros have been one of the hottest teams in baseball this entire season but especially of late as they've rattled off eight straight wins after sweeping the Oakland A's. This weekend the Stros stay on the road and travel to Kansas City to take on the Royals.

The Royals have fallen way off from where they were when they made two consecutive World Series trips and now they're the second worst team in the American League this year (22-43). They have been about as equally as bad on the road (12-23) as they have been at home (10-23).

As I've detailed the Astros have been hot, have one of the best records in the entire league at this point (45-25), and they're first in the AL West.

Lets look at the match-ups for this weekends Fathers Day series:

Friday: 7:15pm

• Houston: RHP Charlie Morton (7-1, 2.82 ERA)
• Kansas City: RHP Jakob Junis (5-6, 4.05 ERA)

Charlie Morton has been exceptional this year and his home and road splits don't differ much (5-1, 2.76 ERA at home and 2-0, 2.93 ERA on the road).

As for Junis he's actually got worse numbers at home than he does compared to his road splits (Home: 3-4, 4.19 ERA. Road: 2-2, 3.89 ERA).

Saturday: 1:15pm

• Houston: LHP Dallas Keuchel (3-8, 4.45 ERA)
• Kansas City: LHP Danny Duffy (3-6, 5.28 ERA)

It's been a down year for Keuchel this season. However, he's fared better away from home this season compared to pitching at the juice box (Road: 2-4, 3.99 ERA. Home: 1-4, 5.02 ERA).

Danny Duffy is coming off one of his best starts of the season his last time out, he blanked the Athletics through seven strong innings only allowing three hits/walks, and striking out 10.

Sunday: 1:15pm

• Houston: RHP Lance McCullers (8-3, 3.83 ERA)
• Kansas City: RHP Brad Keller (1-2, 2.31 ERA)

Young Lance McCullers has shown the type of electricity Houston was hoping he would this season with a very strong start. A majority of his victories have come on the road this year but he's gotten much offensive support to be able to win those games (Road: 5-2, 5.08 ERA).

This will be only Brad Kellers fourth start of his career on Sunday and he's done a pretty nice job, all be it in a small sample size, at home (One start he's 0-0 with a 2.08 ERA).

Undoubtedly the Astros have a big time advantage talent and numbers wise whether it be offensively or pitching and the Royals are not a good team. I would expect Houston to continue their roll right through the mother land of barbecue this weekend.
