Last year was one of frustration for Louisiana Volleyball Coach Heather Mazeitis-Fontenot.

Fielding a young squad with just one senior the veteran Cajuns' coach watched her team drop seven of ten five set matches last season as the squad went 10-21.

But she also saw improvement as the squad compiled a 6-10 record in conference play and had a shot at a Sun Belt Tournament berth until the final weekend.

But the Cajuns return eleven players from that group and, with some talented freshmen entering the program and Mazeitis-Fontenot has higher expectations for 2017.

The schedule, however, doesn't do her any favors.

The Cajuns will play only 12 of their 31 matches at Earl K. Long Gym this season and have just four of their first 16 matches at home.

The Cajuns will appear in tournaments at Incarnate Word, Rice and Chicago State before opening their conference season with a pair of matches in Georgia.

The only home appearance for the Cajuns prior to September 29th will be the annual Sawyer Camillo Memorial Classic, featuring four matches September 1 and 2.
