Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns lefty Colten Schmidt, the Sun Belt Conference Pitcher of the Year, will get an opportunity to continue his baseball career.

The senior, who was named an All-American by Collegiate Baseball, was tabbed in the 23rd round by the Colorado Rockies.

Schmidt finished the season 7-0 with a 2.45 ERA.  He walked only nine batters and struck out 90 in 106.1 innings of work.

In related draft news, Hattiesburg (MS) outfielder Dexter Jordan tweeted this afternoon he has decided to attend college.  Jordan was the one signee the Cajuns were concerned about, but Jordan made his decision public after going undrafted in the first 20 rounds.  He will have an opportunity to compete for a starting position at UL.
