Cajuns Head to Lake Charles to Face McNeese
Go west, young men.
The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns travel down I-10 Wednesday to take on the McNeese Cowboys at Joe Miller Ballpark in Lake Charles. Game time is set for 6:05 and can be heard on ESPN 1420, espn1420.com or the ESPN1420 mobile app.
The game will feature a couple of left handed starters, as freshman Austin Perrin (0-4, 6.23) gets the nod from head coach Tony Robichaux, while McNeese will counter with freshman Adam Goree (0-1, 9.64).
McNeese (8-11) comes in red hot having won six in a row including a weekend sweep of Stephen F. Austin. The Cowboys scored 24 runs in the three game series. Shane Selman (.333-6-15) leads Justin Hill's team offensively. The Cowboys started the season 0-6, but have recent wins over Houston and Mississippi State.
The Cajuns (8-11) dropped two out of three at Georgia Southern to open league play, but showed signs of breaking out of their season-long offensive slump. Louisiana had double digit hits in two of their four games last week. Gavin Bourgeois (.307-0-6, 6 steals) leads the Cajuns in hitting, while Kennon Fontenot and Hunter Kasuls are tied for the team lead in RBI (12).
This game wraps up a five game road swing for the Cajuns, who return home to M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field at Russo Park for their first home conference series, entertaining Troy.
