Scot Wieland is ready to begin his 13th season as the head coach of the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns and he's hoping the youth he played in 2016 pays off as 2017 approaches.

Wieland has to replace his two top point scorers in Mackenzie Higgins and all-league selection Yazmin Montoya.  But the veteran coach returns four players who scored eight or more points last year among eleven players that played in double digit matches a year ago.

That could be the formula to improve a 4-4-2 league record in the Sun Belt Conference a season ago.

The Cajuns open their schedule with an Alumni Match on Aug. 11 and an exhibition against Mississippi Valley State two days later before the regular season opener at Baylor August 18th.  Louisiana's home opener is scheduled for August 27th against Ole Miss at the Ragin' Cajuns Track/Soccer Facility.

Sun Belt play begins Friday and Sunday, Sept. 15 and 17 when the Cajuns travel to Arkansas.  Their first home conference series will be the following Sunday when Louisiana hosts Georgia Southern.
