Cajun Softball Ties Record, Place 6 On NFCA All-Region Team

Louisiana's Ragin' Cajun softball team tied a school record by placing 6 players on the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) All-Region team, the association announced Thursday.

Catcher Lexie Elkins, pitcher Alex Stewart and outfielder Aleah Craighton were named to the 1st team, outfielder Shellie Landry and shortstop DJ Sanders earned 2nd team honors, and second baseman Haley Hayden landed on the 3rd team.

Each player is now eligible for the NFCA Division 1 All-American team to be named following the season.

Louisiana had 6 NFCA selections in a single season 6 others times. 1990, 1991, 1994, 1995, 1997 and 2012 all match 2016 for the school record.
