Cajun P Alyssa Denham Named Finalist for NFCA Freshman of the Year
Louisiana Ragin' Cajun freshmen softball pitcher Alyssa Denham improved her record to 14-2 last night, helping lead her team past #4 Texas A&M. It was her second victory this season over a top 5 squad.
The Pearland (Texas) High product has been nothing short of phenomenal this year, and the nation is taking notice.
Denham is 1 of 25 finalists for the Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award.
In 114-2/3 innings of work, including 17 starts, Denham has held the opposition to 40 runs (33 earned), 81 hits and a .193 average.
Twice she's been named the Sun Belt Pitcher of the Week, and earlier this season was named the LSWA Pitcher of the Month for February.
The Schutt Sports/NFCA Division I National Freshman of the Year award will be presented prior to the start of the 2016 NCAA Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.
