Thursday night was an interesting night in the Sun Belt Conference. Here are some capsules, courtesy sunbeltsports.org

GEORGIA STATE 77, WKU 54--Red hot Georgia State won its seventh straight game in impressive fashion, defeating preseason favorite Western Kentucky in Bowling Green, 77-54. After leading by five at the break, GSU opened the second half on a 15-0 run that essentially put the game away.  Curtis Washington had a double double for the Panthers (10-6, 3-0 Sun Belt).  T. J. Price led WKU (10-6, 2-1) with 15 points.

TROY 98, ARKANSAS STATE 84--After opening with two straight losses, Troy pulled the biggest upset of the night, knocking off Arkansas State at the Convocation Center, 98-84.  The Trojans (6-9, 1-2) got a huge performance from Tevin Calhoun, who hit seven three point shots en route to a 35 point performance.  Troy hit 14 triples in the game.  The Red Wolves (9-5. 2-1) got 27 points from Kirk Van Slyke and 23 from Brandon Reed.

ARKANSAS LITTLE ROCK 65, SOUTH ALABAMA 60--The Trojans red hot start to league play continued at the Stephens Center as the Trojans defeated South Alabama 65-60.  WIll Neighbour had 22 points and ten rebounds for UALR (8-7, 3-0).  Sun Belt Preseason Player of the Year Augustine Rubit had 22 points and 13 rebounds for the Jaguars, who blew a nine point halftime lead en route to their fourth straight loss.  UALR played without starting guard Josh Hagins, who was suspended by the school for his actions in the Trojans game last Saturday against UT-Arlington.

UT-Arlington 83, Louisiana-Monroe 79 (OT)--Despite not having the league's leading scorer in Roger Dowell, the Mavericks got the win over ULM thanks to a big night from Lonnie McClanahan, who scored a career high 25 points.  UTA (6-9, 1-2) used a 7-0 run in the extra period to get the win.  Tyler Ongwae had 25 in a losing effort for ULM (4-6, 1-1).  Dowell missed the game with a bruised thigh suffered in Saturday night's loss to UALR.  He will be out 2-3 weeks.  Even without Dowell, UTA had 13 triples in the contest agaisnt the Warhawks.
