The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns have some stiff competition for one of their recruits, as they try to add some help on the defensive side of the football.

DaMarcus Mitchell, from Southwest Mississippi Community College, recently received a scholarship offer from West Virgninia, his first offer from a Power 5 school.

In late April, Mitchell was offered by Louisiana.

A 6-foot-4, 255-pound linebacker/defensive end, Mitchell will begin his sophomore season at Southwest Mississippi Community College in the fall, and will be eligible to play Division I football in 2020.

A native of Thidodaux, Mitchell played his prep football at Thibodaux High School.

Mitchell has also reportedly been offered by such schools as Southern, ULM, McNeese, and UAB, Mississippi Valley St., Arkansas-Pine Bluff, and Nicholls St.
