The New Orleans Saints lost a fullback on Thursday, while a key member of the receiving group returns.

The Saints placed John Kuhn on injured reserve, and activated Willie Snead to the 53-man roster.

Kuhn suffered a torn bicep during practice, which requires surgery, and may be done for the year.

A 12-year veteran, Kuhn rushed for 37 yards on 18 carries last season, his only one with the Saints, while also compiling 16 receptions for 70 yards.

The 35-year old Kuhn, a former 3-time Pro Bowler while a member of the Green Bay Packers, was just re-signed by the Saints on Monday, after being released for a second time this season on September 21.

With Kuhn moved to injured reserve, Snead was removed from the roster exemption list and is now on the active 53-man roster.

Snead served a three-game suspension to start the season for an alcohol-related incident in June.

The 24-year old Snead has accumulated 141 catches for 1,879 yards and 7 touchdowns over the past two seasons, including a solid 2016 campaign, in which he caught a career-high 72 passes for 895 yards, to go along with a career-high 4 touchdowns.

After playing his college football at Ball St., where he caught 223 passes for 2,991 yards and 26 touchdowns, Snead went unselected in the 2014 NFL Draft, before signing with the Cleveland Browns as a free agent.

The 5-foot-11, 195-pound Snead made the final round of cuts with the Browns, before being released, and then was later signed to the practice squad of the Carolina Panthers, prior to joining the Saints’ practice squad in December of 2014.
