New Orleans Saints interim coach Joe Vitt addressed the media on Tuesday, his first public statement since being named head coach, replacing the suspended Sean Payton.

Vitt accepted blame for his part in the bounty scandal.  But then he sought to clear the names of his players saying they never took the field with intention of hurting other players.

Vitt says he was being suspended because of the words he used in his motivational speeches.

Vitt also said the Saints would not let the bounties or anything else take away from their focus in getting ready for the 2012 season.
