Jonathan Lucroy Traded To Rangers

One day after vetoing a trade to send him to the Cleveland Indians, All-Star catcher and Ragin' Cajun alum Jonathan Lucroy is being traded from the Milwaukee Brewers to the Texas Rangers, according to Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

Lucroy cited family as one reason he vetoed the trade to AL Central leading Cleveland. Another reason was likely Cleveland's reported desire to not waive the team option next year on Lucroy's deal and have him play DH and first base, in addition to his time at catcher.

Lucroy, a catcher his entire MLB career, is now headed to another first place team in Texas, who sit atop the AL West by six games.

Pitcher Jeremy Jeffress also heads to Texas in the deal.

Exact terms of the trade are not yet available, but the deal was consummated minutes before today's non-waiver trade deadline at 3:00.

Lucroy shared his excited on twitter.

On the season, Lucroy is batting an impressive .300 clip, with 13 homers and 50 RBI. He also sports a staggering .360 on-base percentage and .484 slugging percentage.

By market value, Lucroy is underpaid. He’s making $4.35 million this year and will earn $5.25 million next year if the Rangers did not waive the club option and exercise it in the final year of his deal.
