Members of the 2015-16 Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team received some honors recently, with nine members being named to the Easton/NFCA Scholar-Athlete team, as announced by the the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

Sarah Arceneaux, Kara Gremillion, Haley Hayden, Chelsea Lotief, Katie Repole, Macey Smith, Alex Stewart, Shannon Theriot, and Kassidy Zeringue were all tabbed, after earning the a 3.50 GPA or better to be eligible for the accolade.

Lotief led the group, with a perfect 4.0 GPA recorded in her first year on campus, while Zeringe who also earned second team honors on the 2016 Academic All-America Division I softball team, completed her junior year with a 3.621 GPA.

As a team, the Cajuns boasted a 3.202 grade point average, earning them recognition as an Easton All-Academic Team, after finishing in the Top 100.

Louisiana, who have three straight Sun Belt Conference championships, and have appeared in five-consecutive NCAA Super Regionals, will host intrasquad scrimmages this Sunday and on Friday, October 14 at Lamson Park, will host the National ProFastpitch's USSSA Pride in an exhibition contest on Monday, October 17.
