There's something about that end zone in Seattle.

NFL Vice President of Officiating Dean Blandino says it appears the officials missed a call toward the end of the Seattle-Detroit Monday Night game that would have given the Lions a first and goal at the one yard line.

With Detroit trailing 13-10 with just under two minutes to go, the Lions' Calvin Johnson fumbled the football while trying to get into the end zone.  The ball was then batted out of the back of the end zone by Seahawks' linebacker K. J. Wright.

That's a penalty.

The ball should have been placed half the distance to the goal from the spot of the fumble and Detroit should have had an automatic first down.

Following the turnover, the Seahawks picked up a first down and ran out the clock.

The back judge, Greg WIlson said later he did not think the touching was intentional.  But Wright himself said he did it on purpose.  The play was not reviewable.

The play happened in the same end zone as another controversial call that went Seattle's way in the famous "Fail Mary" game when former Seahawks' (now Lions) receiver Golden Tate was ruled to have caught a ball for a touchdown against Green Bay in 2012.  That game was played with replacement officials.
