Jags’ Four-Run Fourth Tops Cajuns 5-3

South Alabama batted around in a four run fourth inning and that was enough to defeat Louisiana's Ragin' Cajuns 5-3 in the rubber game of their series at Eddie Stanky Field in Mobile.

The Jaguars (16-24, 10-8 Sun Belt) trailed 2-1 entering the bottom of the fourth.  Cajuns' starter Jordan Harrison (3-3) got the first out of the inning, but after a walk and a single by Robby Campbell, Colin Bray doubled to right-center to tie the game.  Campbell was thrown out at the plate for the second out, but the Jaguars followed with three straight hits to make the score 4-2 and end Harrison's day.  Reliever Matt Hicks entered and walked Nick Zaharion intentionally to load the bases, but then hit Dustin Dalken to force in the fourth run of the inning.

The Cajuns ( 18-21, 7-11) got the leadoff man on base in the sixth and seventh against winning pitcher Jarren Cito (5-3), but the right hander kept the Cajuns off the board.

Louisiana finally broke through in the eighth against reliever Jarrett Bailey when pinch-hitter Almann Snowden walked and Ryan Leonards singled.  Jace Conrad hit into a double play with Snowden moving to third.  Chase
Compton's single made it 5-3 and Dylan Butler's single put the tying run on base.  Lefty Kyle Bartsch came in and walked Tyler Frederick to load the bases, but struck out Daniel Nichols to end the threat.  Bartsch struck out the side in the ninth for his eighth save of the season.

The Jags got on the board in the second on a bases loaded sacrifice fly by Campbell, but Harrison struck out Bray to stop any further damage.

The Cajuns tied the game in the third on an RBI single by Tyler Frederick and took the lead on Dylan Butler's RBI double in the fourth before the Jags' big inning.

Each team had ten hits in the game  with Ryan Leonards, Butler and Girouard each netting two hits for the Cajuns.  Jordan Patterson, Whitt Dorsey and Hunt Griffith all had two hits each for South Alabama.

The Cajuns will return home Wednesday night for their final midweek home game of the season when they play host to longtime rival McNeese State at 6pm at M. L. "Tigue" Moore Field.
