(KMDL-FM) Fans of the New Orleans Saints have always been on the Alvin Kamara bandwagon. The talented running back drafted out of the University of Tennessee has been a shining light in the past few dismal Saints' seasons. There has been talk of Alvin leaving the Saints, but I don't think he's headed for baseball.

Although the New Orleans pro football star did take some time off during the off-season to make an appearance with the hottest team in baseball, the Savannah Bananas, Louisiana is quite familiar with the shenanigans that highlight a visit by the "Bananas"; all of their performances in the state have basically been sellouts.

Alvin Kamara Introduced as Surprise Guest at Savannah Bananas' Game

But can you imagine the kind of reception the Savannah Bananas would have gotten if Alvin Kamara had stepped to the plate during one of the team's Louisiana appearances? It was pretty raucous when Kamara was introduced at Neyland Stadium at the University of Tennessee for a Savannah Bananas game there; they still remember Alvin at the home of the checkerboard end zones.

And because Alvin Kamara is an entertainer and fun-loving soul, you know he couldn't play his time with the Savannah Bananas without adding his own comedic twist.

As someone who follows the Black and Gold out of New Orleans, I almost threw up in my mouth a little when Alvin grabbed his hamstring. Thank goodness that was just for show.

No, Alvin Kamara Was Not Injured During a Savannah Bananas Baseball Game

And here is Alvin Kamara scoring his first run for the Bananas. He scored on a home run, so it wasn't like his blazing speed had anything to do with him crossing home plate, but in true Kamara-style, he scored with pizazz.

Now, just in case you were wondering how popular the Savannah Bananas franchise has become. The game in Knoxville, the one with Alvin Kamara that was played at Neyland Stadium, was played in front of 101,000 fans.

To put that into perspective, the A's of Major League Baseball, who are temporarily playing home games in Sacramento, are averaging less than 10,000 fans per game. The Los Angeles Dodgers, the current world champions, only average 50,000 per night. Granted, MLB offers 162 games per season, and most towns only get the "Bananas" for one night only.

Based on the current schedule, there are no Savannah Banana baseball games on the schedule in Louisiana for the remainder of 2026. The team played two games in New Orleans earlier this year.
