After retiring from 14 years as commissioner of the Sun Belt ConferenceWright Waters has been named the first executive director of the Football Bowl Association (FBA). So much for retirement.

As executive director of the FBA, Waters will oversee the non-profit coalition that represents NCAA bowl games.

NCAA President Mark Emmert released the following statement through the FBA about Waters new gig.

"Congratulations to both Wright and the Football Bowl Association. Given Wright’s long and genuine commitment to the collegiate model, this is an opportunity for the NCAA and the FBA to address a common interest in providing quality postseason experiences for student-athletes. For more than a century, football bowls have also helped nurture the relationships between college football and communities across the nation. That is a unique feature of the American sports culture. Wright will make great contributions in these efforts.”
