On Wednesday, for the first time the Robichaux family fielded a call from a Major League team informing them that one of coach Robichaux’s boys had been drafted.

Austin Robichaux, who signed a national letter of intent to play for his father Tony beginning in 2012, was selected in the 50th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft by the Cincinnati Reds using the 1,524th overall pick.

Coach Robe told his son it's an honor and privilege to be drafted, because only a small percentage of baseball players in the US are drafted each year.

Being that the Reds selected Austin with their last pick, they know their chances of signing him are slim. However, they wouldn't have drafted him if they weren't going to make him a good offer. Having said that, many Cajun fans would be surprised if Austin isn't throwing on the mound at ML Tigue Moore Field in 2012.

Congratuations to Austin and the Robichauxs. As Tony said, to be drafted is a special honor for Austin and the Robichaux family.
