When you look at overall statistics in the Sun Belt Conference, you'll see the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns lead the league in eight statistical categories.

But when you look at what's happening in league games, it's easy to see why the Cajuns are 7-0 heading into Thursday's contest with South Alabama.

The Cajuns not only lead the league in scoring (80.4 ppg), they also lead in scoring defense (59.7), which means, of course, they lead in scoring margin (20.7)

They are second in field goal percentage (.473) and first in field goal defense (.390)  They are second in shooting the three (.390) and second in triples per game (9.1).  Their three point field goal defense is third, as they only allow the opponent to shoot 30.1% from beyond the arc.

The Cajuns lead in free throw percentage, making them from the charity stripe at an astounding 80.1%.  And, the Cajun opponents make their free throws less frequently than any other, shooing just .556.

The Cajuns can rebound.  They are outrebounding their opponent by 10.1 per game.  They rank third in turnover margin (+1) and first in assist/turnover ratio (1.38)  The Cajuns lead the league in steals (8.16 per game).

And, fans are noticing.

The Cajuns have averaged 4,764 in their league games.  That's more than 2,000 per game ahead of second place (Little Rock 2,537).

And, individually they are getting it done, as well.

Senior Frank Bartley IV leads the league in three pointers per game in league play (3.1), and free throw percentage (.912). He is fourth in scoring (18.4) and fourth in 3 point percentage (.412).

Senior Bryce Washington leads the league in rebounding with 12.7 per game.

Marcus Stroman is the league leader in assists per game (6.7), fourth in assist/turnover ratio (2.0) and fifth in steals (1.6 per game).

JaKeenan Gant would be the leader in field goal percentage if he had enough attempts, but is just under the qualifying number.  Gant ranks fourth in blocked shots (1.8).

And, Malik Marquetti would lead the league in three point percentage, but doesn't quite have enough attempts to qualify.

The amazing thing about the individual accomplishments is these guys are getting it done in fewer minutes than their opponents.  Only Washington is in the top 20 in minutes played per game in SBC play (30.1) and that ranks 16th.

It may not be possible to continue this kind of domination.  There's a lot of basketball to be played and the Cajuns have some tough opponents coming up.

But, if you were wondering how the Cajuns got to 7-0 in league play, now you know.
