Despite an NFL rule permitting it, the San Francisco 49ers hope to wear special uniforms for Super Bowl LIV in 13 days, when they play the Kansas City Chiefs.

The 49ers want to wear the '94 all-white throwback unis for the game, according to Dave Lombard of The Athletic.

San Francisco cornerback Richard Sherman told Lombardi the NFL won't allow it, though the team has applied for an exception.

An NFL rule permits teams from wearing special uniforms in the postseason, and teams are only allotted a small number of games to wear alternate uniforms, such as the color rush combos.
