The 2018 college softball season was another special one for the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns.

Louisiana was ranked in the top 25 all season, qualified for postseason play for the 19th-consecutive year, and finished the season with a sparkling 41-16 record.

Sure, softball is a team game, but in most cases, good teams have players who provide great individual accomplishments, and the Cajuns were no different.

Over the next couple of weeks, I'll look at ten of the best individual feats by UL players during the 2018 season.

Yesterday, I looked back at a great pitching performance by Summer Ellyson.

Today, Alissa Dalton:

Heading into the 2018 season, a lot was expected of Dalton, an Oklahoma transfer, who was being counted on to ease the loss of former All-American DJ Sanders, who elected to transfer.

Dalton certainly lived up to the billing, and it  didn't take long for the Cypress, Texas native to do so, as she made a quick impact.

In a wild 14-11 win over Eastern Illinois, in a home game that actually took place in Broussard.

On that day, February 10, in the Mardi Gras Classic, Dalton had herself quite a game.

In that contest, Dalton recorded a season-high 4 hits, which equaled the most hits in a single game by a Cajun during the season, while making a couple of superb defensive plays that day.

Dalton helped the Cajuns stay unbeaten that day, and she went on to help them have another outstanding year.

A first Team All-Sun Belt, All-Louisiana selection, Dalton hit a team-high .354, to go along with 3 home runs, 32 runs batted in, and 12 stolen bases.

Dalton showed Cajun fans why she was so highly thought of with her performance on February 10, the start of solidifying herself as one of UL's premier players.

The good news is that Dalton will be playing for Louisiana for two more years.
