The 13th-ranked Louisiana Ragin' Cajun softball team kept their 2013 home record spotless, after defeating the Southern Lady Jaguars, 9-1, in five-inning, mercy-rule fashion, on Tuesday night at Lamson Park.

Louisiana jumped out on top early, scoring four run in the home half of the opening inning, thanks to a grand slam home run by freshman outfielder Shellie Landry, her sixth homer of the year, giving them a quick 4-0 lead.

The Cajuns added four more runs in the second inning, as senior outfielder Brianna Cherry drove in two runs, with Landry plating another with a sacrifice fly, extending the lead to 8-0.

From there, Louisiana coasted, and after senior shortstop Nerissa Myers brought home the mercy-rule run with as bases loaded walk in the fifth, the Cajuns won their sixth home game of the year against no defeats.

Freshman Victoria Brown (2-0) pitched the first two innings of the game, to record the victory, while Kendyl Stevenson (0-4) suffered the loss.

With the win, the Cajuns improved to 13-2 on the year, while Southern remains winless, at 0-16.

Louisiana returns to action on Friday, taking part in the Diamond Nine Citrus Classic, in Kissimmee, Florida.
