Cheers to the Southeastern Conference! On Friday the conference voted to relinquish the ban on alcohol at all athletic events. With this revised policy, each institution in the SEC now will have the autonomy to begin selling alcoholic beverages within its venues, all of this is, of course, subject to particular conference-wide alcohol management expectations.

According to SEC Commissioner, Greg Sankey said that this policy that had been in place could have been changed by each institutions Atheltic Director. This was in fact not a bylaw but was chalked up to a game management policy.

Here is the official statement from Sankey:

So, let's raise a glass, a mug, even a solo cup to the SEC for changing its policy. This change will take effect this coming fall.

However, let's not party just yet...

Hopefully, the athletic institutions will implement a course of action for making alcoholic beverages available to consumers and fans who choose to do so in a responsible way.

Ross Dellenger would go on to say, "LSU spokesman, by the way, says the school will review its policy before deciding on 2019 stadium-wide sales. I can tell you from years of interviews that LSU was one of the driving forces behind this. Expect them to be one of the schools to sell this season."

Here are the SEC's standards/restrictions when it comes to the sales of booze:
