Sandy Brasher captured the 2013 Louisiana Golf Association Amateur Championship over the weekend, held at Bayou DeSiard Country Club in Monroe, La.

Brasher, a resident of Covington, started the final round two strokes in back of the leader, Darell Benoit of Belle Chasse, before firing round even par 72, to finish at a 2-under, 214, and win the 60-man event by a comfortable five strokes.

Hal Wright of Shreveport, Ben Hargis of Alexandria, and Eddie Lyons of Shreveport, who all finished at 3-over par 219, finished in a three-way tie for second place, while Benoit, along with Johnny Futch and Paige Breaux finished tied for fifth, at a 4-over, 220, in the 50-and-over event.

The 2014 LGA Senior Amateur will be conducted at The Bluffs Golf Resort in St. Francisville, August 21-23, 2014.
