The New Orleans Saints continued preparations for the 2018 season on Tuesday, signing numerous players, including a former local standout and nine others, to reserve/future contracts.

The team inked Travin Dural, who played his college football at LSU, to go along with linebacker Adam Bighill, cornerback De'Vante Harris, tight end Alex Ellis, defensive end Alex Jenkins, linebacker Shayne Skov, offensive lineman Nate Theaker, offensive lineman Gabe Ikard, cornerback Mykkele Thompson and offensive lineman Landon Turner.

The Saints previously signed safety Rickey Jefferson, linebacker Sae Tautu, guard Andrew Tiller, defensive back Bradley Sylve and wide receiver Paul Turner to reserve/future deals.

NFL teams can sign free agents to a reserve/future contract as long as that player was not on the active roster when the regular season ended.

A former prep star at Breaux Bridge High School, Dural, who went undrafted in the 2017 NFL Draft, signed with the Saints' practice squad, after being released by the team prior to the start of the season.

Also a track standout at Breaux Bridge, Dural caught 42 passes for 902 yards and 19 touchdowns as a senior in high school, before signing with LSU.

Battling injuries throughout his time in college, Dural accumulated 100 catches for 1,716 yards and 13 touchdowns over his 4 years at LSU, including 28 receptions for 280 yards and one score as a senior in 2016.

The 6-foot-1, 202-pound Dural turned 24 in October.

All of the players signed on Tuesday spent time on the Saints' practice squad, but Harris and Bighill are the best known.

Harris started the season on the active 53-man roster and appeared in 11 games with one start, compiling 15 tackles before being waived in Week 13, prior to being signed to the practice squad after clearing waivers.

Bighill also spent time on the active 53-man roster on three separate occasions in 2017, appearing in three games.
