Pressley Gone

Defensive tackle DeMario Pressley was considered an injury risk when drafted out of NC State in 2008 by the New Orleans Saints. The red flags were vindicated when Pressley was hurt in training camp of his rookie year, and spent the season on injured reserve.

In 2009 Pressley earned a spot on the Saints practice squad. Several injuries to the defensive tackle position a year ago allowed Pressley to be promoted to the active roster. He was active for 9 games, and the entire postseason, playing in Super Bowl XLIV. He recorded 15 tackles last year, all solo. The 25 year old's strength as a DT was as a run stuffer. With the Saints crowded roster, and no injuries to the DT position, Pressley spent all of this season on the practice squad. That is, until today. The Houston Texans signed Pressley to their active roster. By NFL rules, the Texans cannot place him on their practice squad, and must keep him on their active roster, or cut him.

In other related practice squad news, the Saints  released cornerback Mark Parson, and signed tight end Tyler Lorenzen and defensive tackle Swanson Miller to the practice squad.
