Pelicans Up Five Spots in NBA Power Rankings
The New Orleans Pelicans are 7-6 overall this season and currently sit fourth in the Southwest Division standings. Last week the Pelicans ranked 21st in the NBA Power Rankings.
However, this past week was a solid one for the Pels and DeMarcus Cousins, aka Boogie, has been Mr. Do it all for New Orleans. He's scored from inside and outside (averaging about two and a half three pointers made per game), he's third in the league in rebounding (13.8 rpg), he's protecting the rim (1.8 bpg), and is forcing turnovers (1.5 spg).
This high level production has produced a 4-1 record in their previous five games in which three of those wins have come on the road. The NBA has begun to take notice as well.
This week the Pelicans have risen five spots in the rankings to number 16 overall.
Jrue Holliday has been a disappointment to most fans offensively after he signed to return to return to the Big Easy for big money in the off-season. Despite the struggles on the offensive end he's done a nice job getting his teammates involved, he's leading the team averaging 6.6 assists per game.
What's Next for the Pelicans?
This week the Pelicans will have two home games against the Atlanta Hawks and will be looking for redemption against the Toronto Raptors who beat them last week north of the border. The lone road game will be traveling west to face the Denver Nuggets on Friday November 17.
