This is the weekend in college basketball that we find out who will play for the National Championship. Two schools will be competing in their first Final Four this season (Auburn and Texas Tech) hoping to continue their run to a chance at a National Championship much like the 1999 UCONN Huskies did.

That was their first appearance in the Final Four in school history and the eventual start of a team who would go on to win three more National Championships after 1999 (2004, 2011, 2014).

Most will say the Huskies began their run to the '99 Final Four the year prior when they made it to the Elite Eight and were bounced by the North Carolina Tarheels. The Huskies were a young bunch of pups as Khalid El-Amin was just a freshman (16 ppg) and Richard Hamilton was a sophomore (21.5 ppg) and they lost to a Tarheels team with Vince Carter and Antwan Jamison.

They returned the next season ready to dominate and were ranked either No. 1 or 2 most of the season but they would run into a monster of a team in the Duke Blue Devils in the National Championship Game.

This is how good Duke was during that 1999 season. They would defeat every one of their 19 ACC opponents that season (regular season and ACC tournament) by double digits! In addition, they carried a 32-game winning streak into that title game against Connecticut. If that wasn't enough they also had five future top-15 NBA draft picks on their roster with Elton Brand, Shane Battier, Trajan Langdon, Corey Maggette, and William Avery.

Uconn entered this game as a 9.5 point underdog, what happened next would be history for the Huskies:
