The baseball playoffs start today with the new format of having two wild-card teams play each other in a one game, loser go home format.

The Baltimore Orioles are in Texas to take on the slumping Rangers tonight.  Lefty Joe Saunders get the start for Baltimore, while Yu Darvish takes the mound for Texas in a game to start this evening at 7:30.

Meanwhile in Atlanta, the Braves will send Kris Medlin to the hill to face the defending World Series champion St. Louis Cardinals, who qualfied for the playoffs on the next to last day of the season.  Kyle Lohse will be their starting pitcher.

The winner of the Baltimore-Texas game will take on the New York Yankees in the Division series, while Oakland faces Detroit.

In the National League, the Atlanta-St. Louis winner meets the Washington Nationals, while Central division champion Cincinnati faces the San Francisco Giants.

The division series are best of five.
