If you grew up in South Louisiana in the early-90s you probably recall a few great things and two are likely KLFY's "Hello Acadiana" television promos and the Louisiana Ice Gators.

The hottest ticket in Lafayette in the early '90s was the Ice Gators in the Cajundome, but when they arrived not many people were sure if hockey would work in the south. Well, it did and it set records.

Knowing that the Ice Gators and the Cajundome did what they had to do to introduce us Cajuns to ice hockey and one very brilliant thing the promotional department did was tie it into KLFY TV-10's "Hell Acadiana" promos.

I don't know who contacted who first, but for "Hello Acadiana" and the Ice Gators to collaborate in this promo was genius. Not only did the promo introduce the hockey team to a whole new audience, but the promo also tied the news station to the hottest thing in town at the time.

Watching the promo below will have you missing both, and it will certainly take some of you back to your childhood or teen years.

Ice hockey in the dome was different and it was FUN! Now, check out this vintage promo and see if you recognize anyone in the video.

While we may never really know what made the Ice Gators so popular in the deep South, perhaps it was moments like this, with beer and music mixed in.
