Cajuns Travel to New Orleans to Take On UNO
After trips to Knoxville, TN, Lawrence, KS and Estero, FL, the Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns are finally back in their home state.
Louisiana (3-3) makes the trip down I-10 to New Orleans to take on the Privateers (3-2) Wednesday night in a 7:00 pm game at the UNO Lakefront Arena.
The game will be broadcast on ESPN1420 and HOT 107.9 with Jay Walker and Ross Cook describing the action. Airtime for the broadcast is 6:30pm.
The Cajuns won two of three contests last week at the Gulf Coast Showcase, defeating Colorado State and Tulane and falling to Toledo. This game will be the first of seven straight games the Cajuns will play in the state of Louisiana.
The Cajuns lead the all-time series between the two teams, 40-32. Louisiana has won five straight and 16 of the last 20 contests, with all four losses coming at the Lakefront Arena.
Bob Marlin (158-114, 9th season) is 5-0 lifetime against UNO. Mark Slessinger (98-117, 8th season) is 0-3 against the Cajuns. Slessinger has coached more games at UNO than any other coach in Privateer history.
Ja'Keenan Gant (17.6) is one of four Cajuns scoring in double figures for Louisiana, with Justin Miller (12.6), Malik Marquetti (12.2) and Marcus Stroman (10.8) also averaging double digits. Stroman scored a career high 26 points in the Cajuns' win over Tulane last Wednesday. He also leads the team in assists with six per game. Gant and Miller (7.2) lead Louisiana in rebounding.
Ezekiel Charles (14.6) leads the Privateers in scoring. The Brooklyn native has been scorching the nets, shooting 58 percent from the field, including 52 percent from beyond the arc. Former Cajun Scott Plaisance is the other double digit scorer, averaging ten points per contest.
The Cajuns return home this Saturday for the first time since November 6th when they host Southern.
