Matt Rose drew a bases loaded walk in the tenth inning as Georgia State defeated Louisiana 7-6 in the first game of their three game Sun Belt Conference Series.

The loss was the third straight for the Cajuns in walkoff fashion.  Louisiana dropped a doubleheader in the same fashion to UALR last Sunday.

Ryan Blanton led off the tenth inning against Cajuns' reliever Colton Lee (0-2) with a single, his third hit of the night, and moved to second when the ball was bobbled in right field.  Justin Jones laid down a perfect bunt for a base hit moving Blanton to third.  Caden Bailey was walked intentionally before Rose walked on a 3-1 pitch for his fourth RBI of the night.

Kevin Burgee, the fifth Georgia State pitcher, went 1.1 scoreless innings to get his second win of the year without a loss.

Each team had twelve hits in the contest.

The Cajuns got an RBI single from Brian Mills in the second inning to take an early 1-0 lead, but Trae Sweeting singled home Rose, who had walked to lead off the second to tie the score.

Georgia State took the lead in the third after loading the bases with one out.  Bailey hit a line drive that glanced off the glove of Cajuns' second baseman Brenn Conrad and the Cajuns were only able to get the second out as the first run of the inning scored.  Rose then followed with a two run double to give GSU a 4-1 lead.

It stayed that way until the sixth when the Cajuns got to starter Nathan Bates.  Joe Robbins drove in one run with a bases loaded single, Stefan Trosclair hit a sacrifice fly and Bates uncorked two wild pitches allowing two more runs to score and give the Cajuns the lead.

Rose tied the game in the bottom of the inning against starter Evan Guillory with his league leading eighth homer of the season.

The teams traded seventh inning runs before the fateful tenth.

Each team had twelve hits in the contest with Blake Trahan, Greg Davis, Joe Robbins, Brian Mills and Trosclair garnering two hits each.  Blanton, Jones and Rose combined for seven of GSU's twelve hits.

The two teams will play game two of their series Saturday at 1pm CDT.
