The Louisiana Ragin' Cajuns men's basketball team is your 2018, outright, Sun Belt Conference Champions!

With an 88-71 dominating victory over South Alabama, your Cajuns are Champs. This is a very good first step but there is still more work to be done to get to where this team ultimately wants to go, marching into the madness.

The Cajuns were lead tonight by sophomore forward Jerekius Davis with his best performance of the season, a very efficient 20 points in 20 minutes of game action. He shot 7-10 from the field and 3-4 from downtown.

The South Alabama Jaguars had played the Cajuns very tough in the first half and if it wasn't for a half-court heave from Malik Marquetti right before the half, they would have been trailing. However, he nailed it and they lead by 2 heading into the break.

The second half was a much different story. The offensive output continued but the UL defense really dug in its heels to the tune of a 19-3 run over 4+ minutes halfway through the second half.

The Cajuns utilized that run, which began at the 12:06 mark, when the game was knotted at 56, from there they blew the game open and the Jags couldn't recover.

Frank Bartley struggled from distance (1-8) but was still able to pour in 17 points, Bryce Washington did what he does and secured another double-double (11 points, 13 rebounds), and Jonathan Stove was a very efficient 5-7 from the field and scored 16 points off the bench.

In addition, the Cajuns dominated the boards, out-rebounding the Jags 45 to 31 and took care of the basketball, only committing 11 turnovers compared to South Al's 18.

Overall, it was an impressive victory for the Cajuns and they can enjoy sole possession of the Sun Belt Conference Title.

The team returns home next week for their final two games of the season. They'll square off against Arkansas State on Thursday March 1 at 7:15pm and then on Saturday March 3 it's Senior night as the Cajuns host Arkansas Little Rock at 7pm.
